3D printing is a perfect technique for making scale models. 3D printed scale models can be used as marketing material, for example at trade fairs, promotions and presentations. They give a good impression of the final design or more explanation about a situation.

Scale models have a short time to market, which means that a realistic miniature can be quickly produced. Often there are already 3D drawings available for machines or production lines, this is the basis for the 3D print. With a few minor adjustments, these files can already be used for a scale model or scale model in 3D print.

How does the 3D printing of scale models or a miniature work?

Even if no 3D file is available, it is possible to produce a scale model. With the help of photos or 2D drawings it is possible to create a realistic image. The 3D printed scale models can be printed in color, but can also be printed in white and then painted by hand. In this way, every aspect of the ‘real’ machine or home can be matched. Applying logos and type plates with (transparent) stickers really brings a model to life!
