Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) is a 3D printing technique in which a movable nozzle places a long, thin wire of thermoplastic material on top of each other. A three-dimensional object is created layer by layer. Most ‘3D hobby printers’ use this technique. The appearance of an FDM print differs greatly from the result of a professional 3D printer. The print layers are clearly visible on the surface of a FDM print.
