At Oceanz we work with professional 3D printers that print with the SLS technology. SLS stands for Selective Laser Sintering, a widely accepted technology for manufacturing nylon products. How does SLS 3D printing work, what are the advantages and what can you do with it?
SLS is a printing technique where objects are built up layer by layer by melting powder with the help of a laser. A layer of 0.1 mm plastic powder is dosed onto a powder bed. During the process, a layer of powder is placed on a different layer of powder. With each layer, the powder is locally melted (sintered) by the laser. This hardens the powder and eventually creates a complete object in 3D. After the process and cooling of the entire powder block, the product is removed from the building volume and the excess powder is removed. 3D printing is therefore a sustainable technique. The waste materials are kept to a minimum and the material is reused (zero / less waste).
