What is Rapid Prototyping?

Rapid Prototyping is a collective term for various techniques used to quickly produce physical prototypes. It starts from virtual computer data, which is then ‘translated’ into a tangible object. This method is ideal for designers and artists to accurately realize and reproduce their ideas. It saves both time (fast delivery) and money.

What is Additive Manufacturing?

Additive Manufacturing (AM) is the process of creating objects from 3D model data by building them layer by layer. This is fundamentally different from conventional, subtractive techniques.
Within Additive Manufacturing, several 3D printing techniques exist, including FDM, laser sintering (SLS), and stereolithography. These methods are widely used in industries such as manufacturing, retail, automotive, aerospace, and increasingly in the medical sector.

What is 3D Printing?

3D printing is a crucial component of both Additive Manufacturing and Rapid Prototyping. A digital model, built up from multiple layers, is sent to a 3D printer to produce a physical object. A wide range of materials can be used in the process, such as nylon, carbon, rubber-like materials, plaster, gold, stainless steel, titanium, and aluminum.
