Vapor Polish

Oceanz Vapor Polish is a high-quality post-processing technique for parts 3D printed using Selective Laser Sintering (SLS).

During this post-processing treatment, the 3D-printed part is placed in a vacuum chamber. A solvent is introduced that slightly dissolves a thin layer of the part’s surface. This results in a glossy and sealed finish.

Vapor polish: skin- and food safe

With Vapor Polish, 3D-printed parts are smoothed using a controlled solvent process. After smoothing, the solvent fully evaporates, preserving the original material properties. This technology is therefore suitable for applications requiring skin and food safety.

In addition, the smooth finish prevents dirt from adhering to the surface, making cleaning easier. This makes Oceanz Vapor Polish ideal for Food Safe and Skin Safe applications.

Some Design Rules for 3D Printing and Oceanz Vapor Polish

  • Process chamber: 550 x 350 x 300 mm
  • Minimum wall thickness: 1.5 mm
  • Details/text require a minimum height or depth of 0.50 mm
  • Internal holes/channels need a minimum diameter of 8 mm to be processed
  • Parts must be suspended during processing. This may leave a small mark on the part, almost invisible in rigid materials, but visible in TPU
  • A large variation in wall thickness within a part (≥ 4.0 mm) may result in different levels of surface smoothing
