Digital Light Processing
In 3D printing using DLP (Digital Light Processing), a photopolymer (resin) is used. This is processed into a solid product using light by a type of small projector.
This small projector projects the entire contour onto the surface of the photopolymer in a single pass; this surface hardens and is lifted by one layer of thickness. Subsequently, the next layer is exposed and cured. With DLP, very thin pillars are used to support the overhanging parts of the model. These support pillars can be easily removed after printing.
